The 17-Day Tanzania, Zanzibar & Egypt Tour is an incredible trip that brings together the best of East Africa's wildlife, Zanzibar’s beautiful beaches and Egypt's ancient wonders in one nice adventure. It all starts in Tanzania with a visit to the most popular safaris in the Serengeti and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. After that, you will be relaxing in Zanzibar, where the combination of the turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and the historical and cultural aspects of Stone Town will give you a real paradise experience.
Your visit to Egypt will be completed with seeing the Pyramids of Giza, the Egyptian Museum delights, and a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan, which will include visiting the Karnak, Philae and Kom Ombo temples. This tour that includes thrilling safaris, nice beaches, and history is one of our most engaging Egypt and Africa tours, especially for those who like to get a taste of the continent's diversity, culture, and stunning memories in one go.
At Kilimanjaro International Airport, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel, where you can relax after your trip. Take your time to relax and check out the hotel amenities after you check in. You can opt for a swim, a spa treatment, or just lying down in your cozy room.
Having an early breakfast, go then to the Ngorongoro Crater on a scenic drive, which is one of Africa’s most stunning natural wonders. And as you come down into the crater, do not be surprised if an amazing assortment of animals comes in front of you, such as lions, elephants, rhinos, zebras, and wildebeests. That's a very unique thing about the crater and the ecosystem that it supports, and because of that, some of the best game-viewing opportunities are at our disposal.
The next in your itinerary is the interaction with the Maasai village, which is the very first step in your journey through a fascinating people’s cultural world. Get familiar with their lifestyle, how they take care of the land, and their rituals such as dancing and you will also see their houses that have a very peculiar design.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent travelling to Serengeti National Park, where you will arrive just in time for the picture-perfect sunset over the endless grassland. After the check-in at your luxury tented camp, savor a tasty dinner while nature and its sounds are around you.
Start your day with an optional hot air balloon safari that will give you a stunning view of the Serengeti from above during sunrise. The first light will reveal the vast savannas and the animals that inhabit them. A champagne breakfast in the middle of nature is the next reward in line after landing.
The early morning routine is different for the non-balloon riders: the day begins with a big breakfast at the camp and a full-day game drive that is challenging and exciting. Your expert guide will lead you to the various parts of the Serengeti where you can see the Big Five: the lions, the leopards, the rhinos, the elephants, and the buffalos—as well as the cheetahs, the giraffes, the hippos, and the huge herds of the wildebeests and zebras. Lunch will be a picnic in the wild, amidst the breathtaking landscapes and the rich wildlife.
Just as the sun is going down, you will be returning to the camp for dinner, unwinding, and considering all the remarkable things that have happened during the day.
After having breakfast, saying goodbye to the Serengeti, and taking a short domestic flight, you will arrive at Zanzibar, the beautiful island paradise, which is famous for its great beaches and interesting history. When you arrive, the hotel by the beach will be your place of stay for the next nights and you can check in and take it easy.
You will have the whole day to use as you please. You can stay at the beach, swim in the sea with its blue color, or visit the markets. In case you want a seafood dinner by the ocean and an experience of the calm island atmosphere, go ahead.
The day is free for you to explore at your own pace. You may choose to visit more of Zanzibar’s cultural sites, enjoy the beach, or try local delicacies at one of the island’s charming restaurants.
After having your breakfast, you are going on the guided exploration of the Stone Town, which is the historical and cultural center of Zanzibar, and experiencing its beauty. You will be amazed by the great fusion of the two cultures that made the city so beautiful, and at the same time you will get to know the interesting history of the island by visiting the Sultan’s Palace and other attractions in the town.
Later, you will go on a boat trip to the island of the Prison, which is famous for its giant tortoises that live for more than a hundred years. You will have a chance to do snorkeling in the beautiful waters, among the colorful fish, before going back to the shore.
In the afternoon, you will take the much-advertised Spice Tour, during which you will be going to the beautiful plantations that are growing cloves, vanilla, cinnamon, and other exotic spices. You will not only learn about the spices’ cultivation and their connection to the history of Zanzibar, but also you will have a chance to taste them before going back to your hotel.
Start your day by going to Jozani Forest, which is where the rare red colobus monkeys live. Trekking, appreciating nature's beauty around the forest and observing some rare species of animals will be part of your activities, as well as discovering the mangrove forests, which are very important in Zanzibar's ecological system.
In the next move, visit Paje Beach, among the most scenic beaches in Zanzibar. The entire day can be devoted to just lying on the soft powdery beach, taking dips in the sea or engaging in fun activities such as kitesurfing.
This day is yours and you can do whatever you want with it. Simply sitting at the beachfront resort and enjoying the peace and tranquility is one of the choices, while the other one is to participate in the optional adventures. Each activity like jet skiing, skydiving, deep-sea diving, or going on an off-road ATV tour, is available along with endless moments on the other side of the day.
After breakfast, take a flight back to mainland Tanzania and transfer to a hotel near Kilimanjaro International Airport. Spend your final night reminiscing about the incredible experiences you’ve had over the past days.
Following breakfast, take a flight to Cairo, which signals the start of your travel in Egypt. Our team will be waiting for you at the airport and you will be taken to your hotel close to the Pyramids. You can either rest in the evening or have a little exploration around the area before dinner.
Start your trip to Egypt with a stop at one of the most visited places on earth—the Great Pyramids of Giza. Your private guide will meet you at the hotel after breakfast and take you to the Giza Plateau, where the gigantic pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure are standing as the last of the ancient wonders. Then, get face-to-face with the mythical Sphinx, which is a big limestone statue that has a lion's body and a pharaoh's head.
In order to make the most of your visit, you will be offered a 15-minute camel ride at the Giza pyramids for free, which will take you through the desert, where you will have the chance to see the pyramids from a distance.
After such an engaging morning, enjoy lunch at a carefully chosen restaurant, which will give you the opportunity to taste real Egyptian food. After that, your visit to the Egyptian Museum with its worldwide unique collection of antique pieces will continue. Get lost in its immense display full of riches, which include the gold mask and grave goods of King Tutankhamun, royal mummies, and thousands-of-years-old statues.
After an enriching day of exploration, return to your hotel for an evening at leisure. You may choose to relax or explore the lively streets of Cairo at your own pace
Wake up to an early meal and then, after having your breakfast, transfer to Cairo Airport for the flight to Luxor, which is often called the world’s largest open-air museum. Upon your arrival, a tour guide will be waiting for you and you will start to discover the gorgeous East Bank temples.
The first temple you go to is the Karnak Temple, which was the largest religious complex ever built. Your guide will take you through the towering columns, massive pylons, and the sacred lake while explaining the importance of each section. The Hypostyle Hall, with its 134 towering columns, is a remarkable piece of architecture that will certainly impress you.
Then visit Luxor Temple, a magnificent place built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III and enlarged by Ramses II. Unlike the temples of Karnak, which were meant to be used mainly for worship, Luxor Temple was a place of ancient kings’ coronation. Walk through the Sphinxes Avenue, the path that used to link the two temples, and have a look at the statues and carvings that are in very good condition, too.
At the end of your excursion, you'll be taken to your luxury Nile river cruise ship, where you'll be able to check in to your cabin. The onboard lunch will be accompanied by the calming sights of the Nile. The rest of the day will be free for you to do whatever you want—either just lie on the deck or go around the ship to check its facilities before having dinner.
After having breakfast on the ship, go for the discovery of the West Bank of Luxor, which is the place where the most interesting tombs and temples of Egypt are located. The first place you will visit is the Valley of the Kings, which is the burial place of many Pharaohs, among them the famous Tutankhamun.
Then, proceed to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a magnificent mortuary chapel that is located in the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. This temple was built to honor the most outstanding female pharaoh of Egypt and has been made more beautiful by the grand steps, enormous columns, and beautifully carved figures showing her rule.
On your way back to the cruise, you will visit the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have been watching over the site for more than 3,000 years.
You will have lunch again on the ship as the cruise heads for Edfu, taking you wreathed in the lovely landscape views along the Nile river. The rest of the day is at leisure before having dinner on the ship.
Wake up to a wonderful morning on the Nile and have breakfast on the ship. The first place to visit is the Temple of Horus in Edfu, a temple among the best-preserved ones in Egypt. Get to the temple site by horse-drawn carriage, a very nice way of feeling the local vibe. As you walk around the temple, take a good look at the huge pylons, the fine carvings, and the great sculptures of Horus, the god with a falcon's head.
Come back to the boat and keep sailing to the south of Kom Ombo. When you get there, go to the Temple of Sobek and Haroeris, a remarkable dual temple that is devoted to two gods—the crocodile deity Sobek and the falcon deity Haroeris. The major temple's layout which is perfectly balanced, captivating reliefs, and mummified crocodiles are some of the reasons why the site is so unique.
While the ship is en route to Aswan, you can sip on tea served in the afternoon while taking in beautiful views of the Nile river, relaxing, and having dinner.
Breakfast on board will be the first thing to do, then you can go out and visit the most important places in Aswan. The first stop is Philae Temple, a beautiful island temple dedicated to the goddess Isis. The quickest way to get there is to take a boat ride across the Nile, where you will be able to watch the peaceful waters and enjoy the beauty of the scenery.
When you are done with Philae, go back on the cruise for lunch. The afternoon is going to be a time for a classic felucca ride around Elephantine Island; it is a quiet and perfectly former way to savor Aswan's beauty. Feel the soft wind on your body while you move on the Nile, and enjoy the view of green riverbanks and old buildings.
After dinner, your last meal on the cruise, you will be thinking back on the great trip through Egypt.
After breakfast, disembark from the cruise and transfer to Aswan Airport for your flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy a free day to relax or explore at your own pace.
For those interested, an optional tour to Memphis and Sakkara is available. Memphis, once the capital of ancient Egypt, is home to a massive statue of Ramses II. Nearby, Sakkara is famous for the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world’s oldest stone pyramid.
Enjoy your final evening in Cairo with a farewell dinner or a stroll along the Nile Corniche.
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to Cairo International Airport for your departure flight. Take home unforgettable memories from your extraordinary journey through the Tanzania, Zanzibar & Egypt tour package in 17 Days.
