Upon check-in, you will be briefed on your adventure ahead. In the morning following breakfast, you have the Kigali Walking City Tour, where you hike Mount Kigali for a view of the city. You go on to Nyamirambo, Kigali's cultural and historic center, where you get to know the fantastic women of the Nyamirambo Women's Group.
You'll stroll down residential streets, learn about Rwandan traditions, and even pick up some Kinyarwanda phrases. Lunch: A traditional Kinyarwanda lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: You will pay a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where over 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide are interred. This is one of the best places to visit in Africa. This is an emotional and educational experience that provides deep insight into Rwanda's gruesome history and its incredible journey toward reconciliation. The tour also stops at Kimironko Local Market, where you meet local artisans and purchase handmade souvenirs. Today's excursion is south of Kigali to the Ntarama and Nyamata Genocide Memorial Sites, where you will learn more about the horrific 1994 events. The Ntarama Church, now a memorial, was the site of a horrific massacre in which 5,000 were killed. Nyamata, where the genocide began, has some of the most horrific accounts of this wretched page of Rwandan history.
You will have a traditional lunch at one of the local restaurants and visit Mbyo Reconciliation Village, where former abusers and survivors live together as part of Rwanda's healing and reconciliation. You will experience firsthand the reality of survival, forgiveness, and reunification. This powerful encounter will give you an even deeper understanding of Rwanda's journey to peace. You will return to Kigali in the evening for dinner and relaxation.
Following breakfast, you will be transported to Muhanga to spend a full day of cultural experience with Azizi Life, a community initiative offering hands-on experience with local farmers and artisans. You will learn how to build beehives in the traditional manner, participate in local cooking classes and basket weaving, and even engage in a cultural performance.
It cannot be more personal than this: time with the locals, getting to know their daily life, and experiencing Rwanda traditions at close range.
You have lunch and dinner with your Azizi Life hosts, cooked with fresh local ingredients. At the end of this satisfying day, you will be returned to Kigali for an evening by yourself.
Following a relaxed breakfast, you'll enjoy a drive along a scenic road to Gisenyi town, which lies on Lake Kivu, one of Africa's Great Lakes. On your drive, you'll pay a visit to Roz Carr House, home to a globally acclaimed humanitarian who made a massive contribution to the local community. Your next destination will be a trip to a tea factory to learn how Rwanda makes such a thriving tea business possible and indulge in the scenic tea plantations.
when your arrival in Gisenyi, you will be accommodated in Paradise Kivu or similar, a stunning lakeshore lodge owned by a local businessman. At lunchtime, you will visit the Atalia de Pupee Women's Center, where widows produce local handicrafts to sustain their livelihood. You will be able to meet these skilled artisans and buy their work. Dinner will be a farm-to-table organic dinner at your lodge prepared using fresh fruits and vegetables picked from the owner's garden.
Following breakfast, you will be taken to Kinunu Coffee Estate for a crop-to-cup coffee tour where you can observe the high-level production process of Rwanda coffee. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Kivu and a scenic overview of the rolling hills and fishing villages.
You will have lunch at Paradise Kivu, followed by a Rubavu town tour where you will visit and interact with the local fishermen and learn about their sustainable fishing methods. You may also observe and experience a show of a traditional song of the fishermen, an interesting cultural experience. In the evening, you will see yourself returning to your lodge, relaxing, and having your dinner.
The day is all yours to spend at your own leisure! You may choose to simply relax and take in the peaceful ambiance or opt for optional activities such as spa, kayaking, sport fishing, island hopping, hiking, or mountain biking. You will have meals at designated times provided by the lodge.
After breakfast, you will leave Paradise Kivu and drive back to Kigali. Along the way, you will stop at the Dian Fossey Institute, a conservation center for gorillas where the locals are trained to conserve them. You will also pay a visit to the Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village, where you will meet the locals, learn Rwandan culture, and witness traditional cultural performances.

On the final day of your Rwanda Tour, it is advisable to avoid booking any outgoing international flights before 3:00 pm. You may also consider extending your stay in Rwanda. Our Tour Leader is happy to assist you with arranging additional accommodation and transfers if required.

To ensure you secure the Rwanda Tour at the desired time, we recommend making a reservation early. To confirm your booking, a deposit of 25% is required. During peak seasons like Christmas and New Year, the deposit increases to 50%. This deposit will go toward your final payment, which is due one week before arrival or in cash upon arrival.
We offer a convenient installment payment option, allowing you to spread the cost of your Tanzania and Zanzibar Trip over 6, 9, or 12 months. You can pay the remaining balance upon arrival in Rwanda using cash or a credit/debit card. Alternatively, you can choose to pay the full amount in monthly installments before your trip begins.
Tipping is a common way of showing appreciation for exceptional service, although it is not mandatory. It is often seen as a gesture to acknowledge the dedication and effort of service providers. However, it's important to note that tipping should not replace an employer's obligation to provide fair compensation.
In the event of canceling your Rwanda Tour, the following charges apply:
