The drive to the site is for a duration of about 3 and a half hours. Abu Simbel, the abode of two magnificent temples, is regarded as the greatest work of ancient Egypt and is a monument to the genius of the New Kingdom. With their unique architectural style, they are now symbolic of the glory of their respective ages. The Temple of Ramesses II is dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and Ramesses II himself. Also called "The Sun Temple of Ramesses II," the amazing fabulousness of its structure leaves one speechless. The Temple of Queen Nefertari, or Temple of Hathor, is dedicated to the vita of the Sun God, Hathor.
